The five rookies of the ASD Accademia Karate Crotone, presented at the regional qualifying phase held at the new Sports Hall in Acri (CS) on Sunday 12 May, obtained the pass for the national final of the Italian Beginners Championship scheduled for early June at the Palapellicone in Ostia Lido. After the minute of silence dedicated to the figure of the former Vice President of the karate sector Francesca Bilardi, the welcome greeting from Lawyer Pino Capalbo Mayor of the Municipality of Acri, who kicked off the event which continued throughout the day involving the many young athletes present at the event. The historic Crotone school had a good general performance, with its athletes reaching the podium 5 times. In fact, what started the positive results was Ludovica Panunzio who won the silver medal in the women’s 45kg. Following, but in the men’s class, the second medal of the day by the bravo Giuseppe Iessi who won Bronze in the 38kg category.

Two more Bronze medals were then awarded, respectively, by Anselmo Greco in the 48kg and Enrico Megna in the 53kg. Final with a bang Vincent Fear in the 58kg where he climbed the top step, winning the Gold Medal and doubled the good result, shortly thereafter also winning gold in the qualifying final for the Coni Trophy. Satisfaction of Maestro Rosario Stefanizzi and Coach Angelo Arditi who directed and followed the athletes. The organization of the event by the CR fijlkam Karate Calabria in collaboration with the ASD Athena Karate Club of Maestro Pino Giordano who with his collaborators did his utmost to make the stay more pleasant was excellent. Present at the event was Master Enzo Migliarese, President of the Fijlkam Calabria Regional Committee, who, together with the members of the Regional Karate Council chaired by Gerardo Gemelli and made up of Masters Luciano Dichiera, Viola Zangara, Francesco Bellino and Vincenzo Ruberto, thanked the healthcare staff, the organizational staff and in particular the Race Officials directed by UdG Vincenzo Martino for the excellent work done.
