We have officially entered the week of the Imola GP, and as with every weekend we are going to analyze the Pirelli preview.

The long-awaited Imola GP is now upon us, so here we are ready to tell you the Pirelli preview to understand the characteristics of the track and the behavior of the tires. To begin with, however, let’s specify which compounds will take to the track in the first of the two Italian weekends on the calendar. Pirelli will supply the teams with the tires: C3 (Hard), C4 (Medium) and C5 (Soft).

Due to theflood that hit Emilia Romagna in May 2023 F1 did not race in Imola, canceling the appointment in Italy. Returning to previous editions, however, we can note that the trio of compounds chosen for all of them was: C2, C3 and C4.

The reason that led the Italian company to bring softer tires concerns strategies. This race generally takes place over a stop, so this new solution could lead to one greater variety of strategies.

To underline from a pit stop perspective is theunknown weatherwhich for Sunday does not seem to promise bright sunshine but, in fact, it is expected rain right during the race hours.

Talking about the characteristics of the track, it is composed of 19 curves and only one DRS zone, that of the main straight. The variety of strategies could liven up a race which, statistics in hand, is precisely due to these factors it has never been the scene of numerous overtaking. 19 times out of 30 the winner was a driver who started from the front row, while anyone who started beyond 5th position never triumphed. So it will be the qualifying session is fundamental.

The track does not exert particular forces on the tires. Speaking instead of the asphalt, this was renewed in 2011, and has aaverage abrasiveness. The track that will host the Made in Italy GP will guarantee a good grip but also a fair amount of evolution.
