Turin. Giuseppe Allamano soon to be Saint

May 23, 2024

The Archbishop of Turin Roberto Repole in a message dated 23 May 2024 announced the upcoming canonization of Blessed Giuseppe Allamano.

Repole’s message

Dear,
With great joy I share the announcement given today by the Holy See to Christians from all over the world: Blessed Giuseppe Allamano, a dear son of the Turin Church, will soon be proclaimed a Saint.
The Pope authorized the promulgation of the Decree which attests to a miracle attributed to the intercession of Allamano, who in 1901 founded the Consolata Missions Institute, opening our Church once again to the announcement of the Gospel in the world.
The mission started from the beloved Consolata Sanctuary and today it is spread throughout the world, where the Consolata Missionaries continue to bear witness to their faith in Jesus, often in conditions of great material and spiritual poverty.
It is the missionary commitment of the entire Church, including that of Turin which, following the example of Allamano and the “social saints” who enlightened the city in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, feels called to bring the Gospel into the lives of all men and all women, here and today. In these hours we join the celebration of the Consolata Missionaries and send a grateful thought to the Pope.
The path towards the canonization of Giuseppe Allamano begins, and we will soon have the joy of experiencing together.

Roberto Repole, Archbishop of Turin
