The new Champions League makes him rich Bologna. Over the weekend, the rossoblù club won the pass for the group stage of the next edition of the top continental competition, the first with the new single group format of 36 clubs.

How much does it help Bologna’s accounts? With the new Champions League, the number of matches will increase, but revenues will increase: UEFA will in fact distribute 2.47 billion euros per season, compared to the current 2. According to an estimate by Football and Finance the minimum revenues from participation in the tournament for Bologna will be approximately 36.51 million euros. In fact, with participation alone, each club will receive 18.62 million euros.

The new single ranking also involves a bonus for the placement: the minimum value will be 275 thousand euros, destined to increase in the event of a better placement. Based on the results, 2.1 million euros will then be paid for a win and 700,000 for a draw: less than today, but with two more games to play.

Furthermore, to complete the revenues there is the new “value” pillar, which brings together the market pool and historical/ten-year ranking, divided into two parts: European, linked to the continent’s TV rights market, and non-European, linked to the historical ranking /ten-year, excluding however the points earned for the titles won in history. According to the portal’s estimate, Bologna would receive 13.45 million euros as the minimum European “value” share and 4.16 million euros as the minimum non-European “value” share. Without considering capital gains, Bologna closed the balance sheet as of 30 June 2023 with revenues of just over 75 million euros.
