Unicoop Firenze shopping vouchers for an amount of 4,350 euros were delivered to Prato, vouchers which will soon become food parcels for families in difficulty.
Inflation, high prices of living and loss of families’ purchasing power have increased the food emergency and widened the poverty basin: more and more families are asking for help from associations involved in fighting poverty.
Faced with growing poverty and the needs highlighted by local associations, Unicoop Firenze reinforces its solidarity commitment with a contribution in shopping vouchers to local associations which will allocate them to people in need. The vouchers were delivered today, 13 May, by the president of the Coop members section of Prato, Stefania Ermanno, to Fondazione Solidarietà Caritas Onlus, Caritas Montemurlo, Association of San Vincenzo de’ Paoli Conference of Montemurlo.
“The delivery of the Unicoop Firenze vouchers takes place as part of a consolidated relationship between the Coop members section and the organizations that care for the most vulnerable people in the area. It represents concrete help because the vouchers will soon be transformed into parcels of basic necessities for those who have difficulty doing the shopping every day, but it also represents a sign of closeness to those who find themselves in a situation of hardship, poverty and often loneliness”, declares Stefania Ermanno, president of the Coop members section of Prato.
The appointment with solidarity is renewed on May 18th when, in 125 Unicoop Firenze sales points, food collection promoted by the cooperative and the Il Cuore si melt Foundation will be held, in collaboration with over 200 local associations. In the supermarkets where the collection will be active, there will be a special display indicating the products that can be donated. Just put them in the cart and leave them with the volunteers present at the exit of the shops. They will be immediately collected by the associations who, in a short time, will distribute them to solidarity canteens, solidarity emporiums and to the neediest families.
