L’AQUILA – Considered a classic of Italian theatre, Novecento by Alessandro Baricco has seen various and prestigious stage interpretations in thirty years of theater (the text is from 1994). In this transposition the monologue translates into a refined and experimental musical and theatrical journey acted jazz and of jazzy acting. A free, dynamic and creative translation as only jazz knows and can do with notes. A journey in search of new languages and new stimuli that glides across the ocean of virtuosity and magical notes (not of a piano as per the text but) of the prestigious trumpet of Fabrizio Bosso and his band; live music, mixed with the masterful and dreamlike strength of the story of the “pianist on the ocean”.
A trip historiatedwhich transforms the word into suggestive images, designed by the artist Cosbru and projected live on the stage and which Manuele Morgese’s acrobatic acting interpretation returns with engaging coherence.
Novecento is a text created for an actor, for a director and for the theater and finds on the stage all the strength and poetics of Baricco’s writing.
A scenic narrative that bears the mark of TEATROZETA of L’Aquila, a well-known theater company for experimental and multidisciplinary artistic operations.
Inspired by Tornatore’s film “The Legend of the Pianist on the Ocean”, this new production of Novecento, in a scenic mix of visual arts, music, acting and directorial games, gives Baricco’s text new shapes and colors and the public, hopefully, new emotions.
