Abortion: Third sector associations remain out of the clinics.

«We ask the chamber to do an in-depth study on law 194». This is how the group leader of the Lega Vallée d’Aoste Andrea Manfrin makes his debut in the chamber, presenting 60 resolutions with the intention of illustrating them. In short, these oblige the regional government to read all the articles of law 194. He keeps the room in suspense for an hour and a half, reeling off half a dozen and then withdraws them. The two PCP councilors Erika Guichardaz and Chiara Minelli left the room in protest.

Plot twist

The coup de théâtre arrives in the early afternoon to underline the forcing of the regulation or the last minute inclusion of a majority resolution, approved with 19 votes in favour, 7 abstentions and the non-participation in the vote of the Lega VdA group, relating to a motion from the Progressive Civic Project group regarding the organization of consultancy services for the voluntary termination of pregnancy.

The resolution

The text commits the regional government to maintaining the current organizational structure of the counseling services, which does not provide for the involvement of third sector entities who have qualified experience in maternity support.

Motion denied

At the same time, the motion of the PCP group was rejected which invited the regional government not to make use of third sector entities with qualified experience in maternity support in organizing the services of the clinics to which women turn to obtain the medical certificate necessary for voluntary termination of pregnancy.
