ALEXANDRIA – It’s not so much the attempted robbery in Corso Roma in Alessandria to leave a bad taste in the mouth, how much “the indifference shown by many people“. The consideration is Josepha citizen who on Tuesday 30 April 2024, while walking along the street, at 1.20 pm, heard the shouts from the two sales assistants of a jewelery shop in the main street of the city, dealing with a woman who was trying to steal some valuables.
Giuseppe immediately intervened to help the girls and prevent the woman from running away with the stolen goods, limiting himself to blocking the door of the shop and at the same time asking the other citizens to help him. “Nobody moved and everyone just watched and then walked away. Two boys even started filming the scene and disappeared shortly after – explains Giuseppe”. The citizen is saddened by the lack of solidarity and by a situation of “indifference that hurts“. “The only ones who showed attention and who attempted to help were a lady and a gentleman of about 60 years old, while many other young people simply glanced into the shop and continued on“. Shortly afterwards the situation was resolved thanks to the intervention of a brigadier free from duty and the arrival of his Carabinieri colleagues who took the woman to the barracks. For Giuseppe, however, it remains “the disinterest when faced with the request for help from two girls was inconceivable“.
