Dgr 2024 from Varese to Comabbio: a Sunday on a motorbike for charity


VARESE – Not a gathering like many others, but a day dedicated to solidarityin which elegant centaurs riding their two-wheelers meet to take part in what is probably the most famous charity motorcycle event in the world. The rite of celebration will be renewed on Sunday 19 May in Varese Distinguished Gentleman’s Ridewhich will touch the most beautiful roads in the area.

The charitable purpose

Varese is one of numerous cities who join the Dgr all over the world, with the aim of raising funds for the prostate cancer research, the second most commonly diagnosed cancer in men. The amount raised will be donated to Movember Foundation, partner of the Dgr. The Varese event is organized by the Triumph Varese dealer Magnoni Moto with the patronage of Varese Chamber of Commerce and with the support of numerous partners and sponsors. The initiative was presented today, Monday 13 May, at the Chamber of Commerce. Among the organizers also former president Fabio Lunghi, joined this morning by his successor Mauro Vitiello (in the photo below).

From Varese to Comabbio

There are about 350 at the moment registered motorcyclists to the 2024 edition (registrations at this link). The meeting is scheduled for 1pm Sunday 19 May in Varese in Piazza della Repubblica. Then at 3 pm the departure for a 50 km journey that will touch Valbossa, the lakes of Comabbio, Monate and Maggiore. Arrival is scheduled for 5pm at the beach Comabbio, where there will be the opportunity to have an aperitif and stop for dinner, accompanied by the entertainment of Radio Village Network and the “Enjoy the Ride” party. The motorbike caravan will be accompanied and escorted by local police motorbikes, to ensure safety maximum safety of the parade.

The numbers

In the three-year period 2021-2023 they participated in the Dgr Varese around 1500 motorbikes. In both 2022 and 2023 Varese ranked third place among the events in Italy in terms of number of participants and donations, behind only Milan and Rome. Globally, 402 thousand pilots were involved, in 900 cities in 120 different countries, for a total of almost $45 million raised.
