Aversa (Caserta) – “Disability told with a smile”, this is the most appropriate title to present the meeting with the writer Lello Marangiowhich will be held on May 17th, at 9.30 am, in the main hall of theInstitute State Technician “Andreozzi”, specially selected from all the Aversa schools. Strongly desired by the head teacher, the teacher Anna Lisa Marinelliwhich, since its establishment, has highlighted care and attention towards such a hot and current topic, the appointment with reading and in-depth analysis has, among other things, the undoubted merit of further raising awareness among the new generations towards a reality they experience daily both within the class group and outside the school context.
And the choice fell, not surprisingly, on the amusing works and exuberant personality of the Neapolitan author Marangio, who has the merit of recounting his own and other people’s disabilities with the weapons of witty humor and sharp irony, qualities incomparable drops within a flowing and immediate writing. In this case, two titles will be the subject of discussion, awarded by critics and the public, selected to represent the writer’s entire production: “On my signal unleash hell” (2019) and “Please don’t touch the disabled” (2023) , both published by Homo Scrivens. In the first, with an authentically autobiographical flavour, Marangio narrates his existence as a disabled person and the most relevant problems connected therein, entertaining us and, at the same time, inviting us to thoughtful reflection, but, above all, disseminating the story with jokes and situations that are undoubtedly comical. . In the second, which consolidated the success of the previous one, the protagonists are Linda And Johntwo boys in wheelchairs, not born but disabled, struggling with an emotional, touching, delightful love affair.
Certainly, the romantic ingredient is also accompanied by the realistic element connected to the complications encountered by people with physical difficulties. Works manifesto of a complex vital condition, returned, however, to the reader with the lightness of intelligence and the sweetness of delicacy. The manager Marinelli will introduce the meeting, while the bookseller will intervene to converse with the author Annafortuna Cifuni and the sociologist Ciro Pizzo.
