Self Sunday afternoon (May 19th) you will come across a record-breaking procession, with 400 motorbikes who will march occupying the roads for almost 10′ know that it’s all for the best. In fact, the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, the DGRan event born in Australia several years ago which will take place on approximately the same date 900 cities in 120 countries different and will involve over 400 thousand motorbikes.

A substantial rate will be a Varese which has hosted a “chapter” of the event for five years and which is at the top in Italy for participation. To be clear, in the last two editions only in Milan and Rome were higher numbers recorded: a source of pride, also because the money raised goes to finance the research against prostate cancer and psychological support to men who suffer from this pathology. “Movember”, the Australian foundation behind it all, will donate the money raised in our country to three Italian organizations. But participating is not enough: the DGR – the name says it: gentlemen on motorbikes – requires you to get on the saddle as much as possible with elegance, both in dress and in behavior. The procession itself includes rules for traveling safely while on board the two wheels you will see jackets, footwear, trousers, helmets, gloves elegant and in some cases extravagant. Which will, in fact, distinguish the event from other similar events.
The DGR was officially presented in the Chamber of Commerce (present the president Mauro Vitiello and the general director Mauro Temperelli) Monday 13th from Fabio Lunghi – one of the souls of the event – supported by Massimo Magnoni of Triumph Varese (which is the “owner” of the initiative: the English motorcycle brand is a global partner), from Jost Secco and Leonardo Bossiresponsible of VRS Crew Varese, an association of young motorcycle enthusiasts involved for the first time in setting up the DGR. «Motorcycling must modernize – explains Gianmario Volpi – one of the first to propose this event in the area – and find twenty year old boys passionate and eager to lend a hand is important from a future perspective.”
DEPARTURE, ROUTE AND ARRIVAL – The DGR will start from Varese in Sunday afternoon 19th: meeting at 13 in Piazza Repubblica and departure at 3pm with the collaboration of the local police and the Municipality of Varese, represented by the councillor Ivana Perusin: «On our part there was the desire to have an important moment in the city: two years ago we hosted the arrival at the Ville Ponti (in the “world” film on the DGR ’22 they were framed at length ed), this time the “start” with the opportunity to leave the bikes exposed for two hours and then with the possibility of cross the center before heading to the lakes.”
The route in fact includes the ride from Varese, Buguggiate, Bodio Lomnago, Casale Litta, Varano Borghi, Ternate, Cadrezzate, Angera, Ranco, Ispra, Osmate and Comabbio on whose beach the tour will end. And it will take place there a party – it will be called DGRVarese Enjoy the Ride – open to everyone, even those who are not familiar with motorbikes or are not interested in the first part. The party will have as its underlying theme the music by DJ DOS, one of the best known and most popular of the not only local panorama, it is suitable for a heterogeneous audience (including families and children) and will continue until 11pm. Motogiro and party are confirmed even in case of bad weather.
