“The Dream of Love” by Marco Cornini at Palazzo Binelli

The dream that shapes desires to bend reality to fantasy in a plastic metamorphosis between the tangible and the ethereal. And the dreamed love is then itself true and real: it is a longing that travels along the road that leads to the unconscious where we hide passions and thoughts, desires and hopes. It is a restless and silent gaze, aimed at the infinite that looks at us and passes through us, in a dialogue of unexpressed desires. It is a body abandoned on an armchair, more soul than flesh, unable to rest because enraptured by an idea imprinted in the mind. It is an engaging journey into the depths of the self and beyond, where the visionary work of Marco Cornini can lead us in the exhibition entitled ‘L’amore soto’ curated by Daniele Lucchesi and Simona Zava which opens on Saturday 18 May at 5pm in the rooms of Palazzo Binelli, in via Verdi in Carrara.

He is a figurative sculptor recognized as one of the most important of his generation. In his works he uses bronze and terracotta in particular to which he manages to infuse a vital plasticity: his subjects transmit emotions and arouse reflections, through the projected movement of the body and the gaze, mixing tradition and classicism that derive from history with a reading modernity of the human being, the central theme of his work within which psychological investigation remains a key to creation and interpretation at the same time.

Over the years he has exhibited in numerous solo exhibitions in private galleries and prestigious public spaces and his works have been included in many national and international collective exhibitions which have marked him as one of the most recognized figurative sculptors of his generation.

“The Cassa di Risparmio di Carrara Foundation, with this exhibition, wanted to support an artist, a sculptor who uses materials and techniques different from what is traditionally used in our territory – highlights the president Enrico Isoppi -: a different and yet complementary vision, which integrates and expands the offer of plastic languages. Marco Cornini’s is, in fact, an artistic practice that recalls ancient sculptors rather than modern systems deriving from the use of robots or 3D printers. exaltation of the feelings of the beauty of classical sculpture, today returns that psychological anguish that torments the many sides of modernity. A story where terracotta and bronze tell of the woman, the undisputed protagonist, who, without ever giving up her femininity, crosses the world. with the proud look, the posture of security and the determination of those who face contemporary living without fear”.

The exhibition will be inaugurated on Saturday 18 May at 5pm and will be open until 9 August, from Monday to Friday from 10am to 12pm and from 3pm to 5pm, Saturday from 5pm to 7pm. Free admission.
