After having signed an important agreement with the Medical Association, aimed above all at the construction of the new hospital and having met the prefect Raffaela Moscarella and the archbishop mons. Francesco Lomanto, the Civic Observatory of Syracuse has now entered into an innovative agreement with Anci Sicily, which brings together all the Sicilian municipalities. The two presidents signed the document: Paolo Amenta, for Anci Sicilia and Salvo Sorbello for the Civic Observatory.

The text of the agreement refers to the implementation of Mission 6 of the Pnrr, relating to health, community homes and hospitals, the Cot (Territorial Operations Centres) and the need to obtain greater awareness of the choices that are being made carrying out healthcare matters throughout the regional territory.

“We thank President Amenta for his sensitivity on the issue of healthcare, which is a priority. Our attention is directed towards the construction of the new hospital, which Syracuse has been waiting for for decades – declares the president of the Civic Observatory Salvo Sorbello – the people of Syracuse are understandably tired and disheartened and are expected to proceed quickly and in a transparent manner, publicly communicating the progress made, if there is any, little by little. As a Civic Observatory we will not give up and will continue to monitor, stimulate and make proposals. We Syracusans have the right to have a new hospital, we have been penalized very heavily from a health point of view for a long time, to the advantage of other provinces. And Syracuse remains the only Sicilian capital that does not have a newly built hospital. We are waiting for Commissioner Guido Monteforte Specchi to officially communicate the amount necessary to integrate the financing already available, so that we can hope to emerge from the current stasis and finally see the work of a hospital of which the entire population of the province of Syracuse is in dire need.”
