From 16 to 19 May, the Udine Castello Festival invites the public to explore the historical and musical heritage of Friuli Venezia Giulia. This year, the festival focuses on regional artistic and architectural symbols, with a focus on decorative angels and underground structures of historic buildings.
Thursday 16 May: piano duel in Udine
The festival kicks off in Udine, where the Torre di Santa Maria will host an unusual musical battle. Two promising pianists, Elisa Brumat and Paolo Zentilin, will compete on the notes of Chopin, Debussy and other masters, in a concert that will culminate with the public vote.
Friday 17 May: musical harmonies in Palmanova
In Palmanova, the day will begin with a guided tour of the bastions, followed by a concert by the Trio Tempestoso in the Baluardo-Garzoni area. The ensemble will explore a repertoire ranging from Stravinsky to Piazzolla, offering a fusion of musical styles that promises to be memorable.
Saturday 18 May: evening in Artegna
Saturday evening will be dedicated to the village of Artegna. After a visit to the Castle, the Pieve di San Martino will welcome the public for another concert by the Trio Tempestoso, with an evening dedicated to musical and historical continuity.
Sunday 19 May: grand finale in Udine
The festival will end in Udine, with a concert by Giovanni Gnocchi at the Casa Cavazzini Museum of Contemporary Art. The program “From Courts to Prisons” reflects the theme of the festival, with performances of Bach, Britten and Weir. The day will begin with a guided tour of the Castle prisons, offering a complete immersion in art and history.
