Agreement between Puglia Region, Rotary Foundation and District 2120

President and regional councilors have ratified the draft agreement between the Puglia Region, The Rotary Foundation (headquarters in Evanston Illinois, USA) and District 2120 (Puglia and Basilicata) of Rotary International (headquarters in Bari).

The Puglia Region acts as a co-actor of territorial development policies and contributes to the “solution of problems that emerge from the profound transformations taking place in current society”.

Rotary Foundation holds “the highest consultative status extended to a non-governmental organization by the United Nations Economic and Social Council.”

Rotary and the Region will be able to connect with each other and with the other institutions and associations operating in Puglia the choices of location of the strategic solidarity projects to be activated or strengthened, as well as promote agreements with other public and private entities involved, guarantee the territory and its inhabitants services adequate to their needs, use educational and scientific infrastructures according to an evolved model of cultural and social promotion.

Foundation, District and Region, among other things, will have the opportunity to participate in the planning of training courses for professional figures already active in the world of volunteering or who aspire to access it; the planning of short master’s degrees or advanced professional training courses relating to business creation and management with particular attention to cultural and social contexts; make educational and scientific facilities in the Region available to students and grant holders of the Foundation, without any costs for the latter.

Furthermore, carry out internships and internships for student operators and graduates at institutions including universities that offer them availability; implementation of development plans and partnership solutions with the aim of technical and cultural growth.

The signatories of the agreement will be able to collaborate in the application of joint projects to access grants from public and private bodies.

Within sixty days of signing the pact, the Committee must be formed, made up of seven members: three indicated by the president of the Puglia regional council, two appointed by the Rotary Foundation, two appointed by the International Rotary District 2120.

The Committee will develop the implementation plans, formulate proposals on possible new programs involving other interested parties, monitor the actual progress of the projects and formulate a report every six months on the results regarding the initiatives covered by the signed agreement, which will be sent to the respective competent bodies.

Duration of the contract? Three years from the date of stipulation, it can be renewed for equal periods of time.
The agreement does not entail financial commitments for the Puglia Region.
