The story of the Alexandria massacre told in images by the Diocese of Alexandria. A tragedy, the one that occurred on 9 and 10 May 1974, told through images Alessandro Venticinquejournalist from LaVoce Communicationa production company of the Diocese of Alessandria, wanted to bring it back to light with the docuseries Forgotten memory produced with the contribution of the Alessandria savings bank foundation.
In those days three prisoners, all armed, took about twenty people hostage in the Alessandria prison (prison school teachers, the doctor, study agents and other prisoners). The goal was to escape. He was outside the prison directing the operations the general of the Carabinieri Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa. Two days of negotiations, with a tragic outcome: five deaths among the hostages, two among the rioters and dozens of injuries. Those who died were: Roberto Gandolfidoctor; Pier Luigi Campiteacher, the official Sebastiano Gaetathe brigadier Gennaro Cantiello and the social worker Graziella Vassallo Giarola. Of the rioters Cesare Concu was killed by the police while Domenico Di Bona took his own life.
«We chose the title because it seems to us that the city has forgotten this story» – explains the director -. Especially the latest generations have not heard of it. And there are many open questions. The docuseries was created to answer the questions, to understand the pain of those who have lost a loved one, while they were simply working that day.”
In “Forgotten Memory” the two days of the revolt and everything that happened afterwards are retraced: trials, investigations, theories and truths yet to be discovered, with unpublished testimonies, starting from Everardo Levrero, the only survivor of the three rioters, who today he lives outside Italy and has never given interviews.
