Piera Maggiomother of Denise Pipitone, the little girl who disappeared in 2004 in Mazara del Vallo is a guest of Mara Venier on Domenica In. «We have received another report, of a girl extraordinarily similar to my daughter in a photo. I want to know who it is of her, we are trying to identify the year, when it was taken and who those people are near her. I have never lost hope,” she says.
The woman retraces the motivations that led her to write the book “Denise. For you, with all my strength”: «The hope is that one day this book can reach my daughter’s hands, wherever she can be found to know the story of the love that existed between her dad and me, and how she was born.” In fact, after a tortuous relationship, which ended up in the spotlight several times, Piera and Denise’s father Piero Pulizzi got married in 2008 «we closed a circle», she says.

Denise would never have left alone, this was the woman’s belief right from the start. Over the course of 20 years there have been dozens and dozens of reports of children similar to Denise. The testimony of the security guard who said in 2021 that she had seen a little girl just like her, then the numerous reports from abroad, up to that, among the most recent, of a Russian girl, who appeared on TV, who was the same age as her small disappearance in Mazara.
The return to Domenica In
Piera Maggio returns to Domenica In after twenty years. Mara Venier shows her the video of when she was a guest on the program in 2004 shortly after the disappearance of her little girl. «I couldn’t say it but I already had a clear picture of the situation. Of what we immediately suspected. There was an acquittal after 3 degrees of judgment due to insufficient evidence”, she states. «But the Supreme Court also said that, despite the acquittal, another person could have had the same motive, which instead was recognized. And it was who could be close to her. Today twenty years have passed and I am here fighting because I believe that the truth is inside those files. It was not possible to go all the way to identifying who harmed Denise.”
What gives joy to Piera Maggio is now her granddaughter Daiana “for me it’s a second life”. The little girl is the daughter of Kevin Pipitone, born in 1993.
Bedbugs found in the house
Only a few days ago Denise’s mystery took another twist. After twenty years, Piera Maggio found bedbugs in two places in the house during maintenance work, one in the garage and one in the entrance hall. «This fact took me back in time again. They were still connected to the power, we don’t know if anyone was listening. The Prosecutor’s Office has validated the seizure of the bedbugs and they are trying to understand their origin.”
