The activity to combat drug dealing by the Guardia di Finanza of the Provincial Command of Trapani continues incessantly. The economic control activity of the territory, concentrated in the center of the Libyan city and implemented with the use of uniformed soldiers, anti-drug dog units but also plainclothes financiers, led to the arrest of a 44-year-old Italian citizen with no criminal record who was found in possession of approximately 200 grams of hashish. The woman’s house was noticed as being affected by a notable coming and going of people, especially in the evening hours. The cautious attitude of the customers, who were standing in the street in front of the house, evidently waiting to be recognized and admitted immediately afterwards, aroused the suspicion of the financiers stationed to observe her behaviour. The soldiers’ intuition was strengthened on the various occasions of observation, considering that a few moments after entering, the visitors suddenly left the area. In light of the circumstantial evidence found, the activity continued under the coordination of the Marsala Prosecutor’s Office, which, having had reasonable grounds to believe that drug dealing was taking place at the house, promptly issued a specific local search decree on in order to find traces or things pertinent to the crime. The Marsala yellow flames, assisted by an anti-drug canine unit of the Trapani Group, during the search which took place on the morning of 10 May, found a block of hashish, around a hundred doses of 1 gram each of the same substance and all the necessary kit for dealing, i.e. a greenhouse knife with handle for cutting, sachets for packaging, precision scales for dosing. The outcome of the activity allowed the drug dealer to be arrested in flagrante delicto. This is why the Marsala Prosecutor’s Office immediately prepared the provision requesting validation of the arrest and simultaneous direct judgment for the crime p. and p. from the art. 73 Presidential Decree 309/1990. The results achieved are the result of the intensification of the economic control of the territory ordered by the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza, in line with the increase in the presence of tourists in the province of Trapani during the next summer season and aim to correspond to the security requirements of citizenship, combating phenomena, such as drug dealing, which contribute to urban decay.
