PESCARA – It will be a record edition of Cantine Aperte, in Abruzzo, which will be staged on May 25th and 26th. With 50 participating companies, distributed throughout the regional territory, it is the year with the largest number of wineries that have decided to join the 31st edition of the event organized by the Wine Tourism Movement to bring wine lovers directly into the production heart, where, step by step, what ends up in the glasses is achieved.
The weekend, as always, will be dedicated to wine culture and healthy fun. The cellars open the doors to their world for two days, offering increasingly varied experiences to wine lovers. Here, in addition to visits to the vineyard and cellar, there are those who organize vertical tastings of historical vintages, concerts, bike tours, trekking and other activities.
“Cantine Aperte represents an important, now historic, event, especially in Abruzzo”, comments the regional vice-president of the Movement, Stefania Bosco. “It is a moment of celebration, conviviality to meet with the family even with children who can spend a carefree day in the open air. Each company tries to show the best of itself, organizing tastings and experiences, focusing on its own peculiarities, but all with a single objective, to make enthusiasts understand how much work, care and passion go into a glass of wine which is not a banal drink , but there is really a lot of sacrifice and attention.”
The rules are more or less always the same. With five euros you can get, in the first winery visited during the weekend, an official glass and bag with the logo of the Abruzzo Wine Tourism Movement and the phrase “Drink to remember Abruzzo”. Then with another five euros you are entitled to 3 tastings in all the wineries participating in the event. The event starts on Saturday 25 May from 3.00pm to 8.00pm and on Sunday from 10.00am to 8.00pm. To book you must contact the wineries of interest directly.
This year too, with the aim of increasing the wine culture of those who participate, the Abruzzo Wine Tourism Movement has chosen to convey the event by dividing the companies, not through the provinces, but through the territories and therefore Docg, Doc and Subzones, identity elements capable of describing the peculiarities of regional wine production, also following the path undertaken by the Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Abruzzo in modifying the regulations, which is now a reality.
“Cantine Aperte is a format that works and is increasingly an important communication vehicle for wine tourism”, states the national and regional president of MTV, Nicola D’Auria. “In recent years the quality level of the event has grown significantly, also because by proceeding with the booking system, it is possible to guarantee turnout managed in a certain way. Wine is culture and this event is not intended to be a festival, but a moment in which the consumer hears directly from the producer what is behind a glass of wine, experiencing, through tasting, a completely different emotion. We want to raise the bar more and more, so that people approach Cantine Aperte with moderation and awareness. Abruzzo is increasingly competitive in terms of appeal at a tourist level”, analyzes the president “and therefore we expect a large presence both from our fellow countrymen, but also from tourists from nearby regions”.
