It is the day, tomorrow, Sunday 12 May, of the external feast of Maria Santissima della Medaglia. The solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord is celebrated. At 9 there will be the Eucharistic celebration, at 10.30 the holy mass with twelve children from the catechism who will receive the Eucharist for the first time. The cathedral choir directed by maestro Giovanni Giaquinta will animate the function, with maestro Giorgio Occhipinti on the organ. At 12 the Eucharistic celebration. At 5.30 pm the holy mass with the homily which will be held by the deacon Don Giuseppe Cascone. Unitalsi of Ragusa participates. At 6.30 pm there will be a procession with the artistic simulacrum of the Madonna della Medaglia along the following streets: Corso Italia, Via Roma, Via Sant’Anna, Via Mario Rapisardi, Via Ecce Homo, Via San Vito, Via G. Odierna, via Roma, Corso Italia and return to the Cathedral. The San Giorgio Città di Ragusa band, directed by maestro Giacomo Antonio Palermo, will accompany the procession. Unitalsi from Ragusa will participate. The parish priest, canon priest Giuseppe Burrafato, invites the faithful to participate in the procession with lit candles. Upon the return of the procession, Eucharistic celebration presided over by the canon priest Giuseppe Cabibbo, rector of the church of San Michele in Ragusa. Yesterday evening, meanwhile, the Eucharistic celebration, with the homily also held by the deacon Don Giuseppe Cascone, was animated by the women of Catholic Action, the Padre Pio prayer group and the volunteers of the Caritas listening center.
