Today an ordinary 1.25 euro stamp belonging to the “excellence of the productive and economic system” series dedicated to Catania airport, which turns 100, is issued by the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy. This is what we read on the Mimit website which also publishes an image of the stamp.

The cartoon depicts, in stylized graphics, one of the most representative perspectives of the Vincenzo Bellini international airport observable from the take-off runway, in particular the structure of the new Terminal A.

In the foreground, the tail of an airplane and in the background the presence of Etna which dominates the scene. Above, on the right, the airport’s centenary logo is reproduced. The stamp is completed by the legend “Centenario Fontanarossa airport of Catania”, the writing “Italia” and the tariff indication “B”.

The sketch was created by the Catania Spa airport company and optimized by the Philatelic Production Center of the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato Spa. The print run is expected to be two hundred and fifty thousand and twenty copies, the sheet will be of 45 copies. The monochromatic production of the Mimit logo will be present on the selvedge.
