Sorano (GR) – An unmissable event for wine enthusiasts is back: the second edition of Ciliegiolo from Maremma and Italyscheduled from 15 to 17 June 2024 in the evocative setting of Orsini Fortress of Sorano.
The undisputed protagonist will be the Ciliegioloa native vine which boasts a ancient history but which only in recent years has begun to carve out a leading role in the Italian wine scene, undergoing a real rebirth. In the past it was mainly used in blends with other grapes, today it is also vinified and appreciated in purity, giving life to DOC and IGT wines of great charm and personality. Born from a spontaneous cross between Sangiovese and Moscato Violetto, it stands out for its ruby red color with violet reflections, the fruity aroma of cherries and ripe fruits and the pleasant and balanced taste.
The event is organized by the Consortium for the Protection of Wines of the Tuscan Maremma, in collaboration with Ciliegiolo Academy, Ciliegiolo d’Italia and FISAR Delegation of the Maremma Hills.
The event, which achieved great success in its first edition in 2023, will offer a program full of events:
- June 15: day dedicated exclusively to the press with tastings and informative seminars;
- 16 and 17 June: open to the public with the possibility of tasting wines from producers from Maremma, Tuscany and other regions of Italy, all based on pure Ciliegiolo.
In addition to tastings, the program also includes masterclasses and vertical tastings dedicated to Ciliegiolo, for a complete immersion in the world of this fine wine.
Ciliegiolo di Maremma e d’Italia 2024 represents an unmissable opportunity to discover and deepen the knowledge of a unique vine which, thanks to the synergistic work of producers and oenologists, is increasingly capable of gaining attention and establishing itself as a valuable and with still unexpressed potential, giving versions of great charm and potential. An event not to be missed for all wine lovers, for sector operators and for all those who wish to get to know a precious and extremely current piece of the Italian winemaking tradition.
