Veneto, for one night, was transformed into Norway. A fascinating and rare phenomenon has colored the skies of the North-East: the Northern Lights. An event that had already happened a few months ago and that scientists predicted again for the night between Friday 10th and today Saturday 11th May 2024. And so it was.
The Northern Lights, a phenomenon usually visible in the polar regions, it also made its appearance in the skies of Emilia-Romagna, from Piacenza to Rimini. The skies were colored with dawn rose clearly visible to the naked eye, even between the roofs of houses and in residential areas. The photos were not long in coming and invaded social media late Friday evening.
The fusion of these colors can lead to the presence of purple, roseyellow and white in the auroras. Height is also crucial: below 120 kilometers above the ground, the aurora will take on a blue or purple color; between 120 and 180 kilometers it will have a dark green color; above 180 kilometers there will be an intense red colour.
The phenomenon has been immortalized by enthusiasts and experts. Images of the Northern Lights over the Dolomites, in the skies above Trevisoon the lagoon of Venice and on Monte Grappa they were shared and admired by thousands of people. The three factors that influence the solar storm and the Northern Lights and generate the different shades of colour: from green to blue, rose or red.
