During the meeting, which saw a large participation of citizens, the lieutenant Raffaele Ferrarocommander of the Viareggio carabinieri station, illustrated the most recurrent scams targeting elderly people today, thus providing useful advice on how to know and avoid them.
The Carabinieri, which has registered in the last year a significant increase in the phenomenon of scams against the elderly in the province of Lucca, is constantly engaged in prevention work to protect the most vulnerable people from scams.
Several people have been reported recently, in Versilia and Garfagnana, for aggravated fraud against the elderly.
In the event of phone calls from self-styled policemen, immediately call the police station or 112 to verify the authenticity of the call.
