The final evening of the second edition of the Student Theater Palioborn from a lucky intuition of Foundation – Fondazione di Partecipazione Arte e Cultura Città di Velletri -, in collaboration with the municipal administration and the ATCL, theater association of the municipalities of Lazio.

High-sounding numbers, shows worthy of professional theater companies, and great excitement and participation driven by an artistic passion that unites, educates and excites. Starting on March 21st, the Palio saw a series of evenings in which the ten participating high schools from the Castelli Romani captivated the public by offering the competing shows on stage. The rest of the numbers tell of a great success, of many young people applauding and applauding, eight evenings for fourteen performances which testified to the absolute value of each student theater company. All worthy of a worthy mention.

Opening the final evening of the ambitious project – which is already aiming for new and even more popular editions – were the president of Fondarc Tullio Sorrentinothe artistic director Giacomo Zitothe Mayor of Velletri Ascanio Cascella with the Deputy Mayor Chiara Ercoli, Marta Bevilacquametropolitan councilor, e Alessandra Carusoof the ACTL.

“This is an experience that these kids will carry with them for life – said Caruso -. The kids questioned themselves and measured themselves with some very challenging Greek texts. Acting means tearing reality apart and rebuilding it by putting your own spin on it, and these processes are fundamental to forming the citizens we all want in our society.”

Great success and great participation which have already pushed the organizers to look to next year, opening up the participation of institutes even beyond the Castelli Romani. “These results can only be achieved with great team work” underlined the deputy mayor Ercoli, who wanted to draw attention to the collaboration born with the organizers, in order to make the Palio a cultural reality, a point of reference for all the young people of the territory and beyond. Everyone agrees that theater and acting are essential elements in the education of children, the Palio was strongly supported by the Mayor and the entire Administration as an investment in the potential of the new generations.

After the initial greetings, the scene was captured by the show of the student theater company of Udine – twinned with the Palio Veliterno – which boasts 53 editions. “Who doesn’t die sees himself again” is the title of the show brought to the stage by the youth group of the Friulian city, which began precisely from participation in the theatrical prize of their city.

Thanks for the hospitality at the end of the show, and a wish for an equally rosy future, came from the representative of the northern Italian theater company, after the highly applauded show.

Then it was time for the awards. Not the classic podium, but a well-deserved recognition to all the companies of the Castelli Romani institutes participating in the Palio, present with their reference teachers and directors. Mention of merit therefore for the three shows of the Foscolo high school of Albano, for the Volterra high school of Ciampino, for the 3 shows of the Landi high school of Velletri, for the Cesare Battisti Institute of Velletri, for the Joyce High school of Ariccia, the technician Vallauri of Velletri, the Cicerone of Frascati, the Ipssar Ugo Tognazzi of Velletri and the Institute Via Salvo d’Acquisto 69 also of Velletri.

And then, the long-awaited moment that announced the winner of the 2024 edition of the Student Theater Palio, decreed by the jury’s votes: the winner was Itis Vallauriwith the show “Standard”, Kune Laboratory, for the directed by Clara Sancricca. Great celebration on the stage, peppered with a few tears of emotion, among all the students who received the award, accompanied by the director, the teachers and the head teacher. The final prize went to them: ten season tickets for the 2024-2025 theater season, which will begin next October.
