Frost. They took the decision and it was in some ways even divided within them. The autonomists of the MPA are with the candidate for mayor Terenziano Di Stefano, at the end of evaluations that have lasted over the weeks. There will not be two councilors who were part of the group at Palazzo di Città, Diego Iaglietti and Giuseppe Guastella (now in “Alleanza per Gela” with the candidate Salvatore Scerra). “The list we present is balanced – says councilor Ugo Costa – we are giving everyone the chance to reach the finish line. We have decided not to include candidates potentially with significant electoral weight. It’s a line we shared. For this reason, there was no agreement with councilor Morselli. Siragusa? We had conversations with him and with others.” Neither Costa nor Ivan Liardi, another councilor at Mpa quota, will be at the starting line. “We will not be candidates – underlines Costa himself – precisely because we want to give greater space to those who have chosen to support the project”. For the social services councilor, the new administration will be faced with difficult priorities. “The disruption, with the budget that the Municipality has and with the revenues, can be progressively absorbed – he adds – the real problem is the bureaucratic machine. There is a lack of managers and officials. It is not capable of managing the entire structure of the institution.” The autonomists decided to support Di Stefano but did not break the administrative pact with Greco, until the end. The lawyer’s political area probably would have expected the final “sprint” from the Lombardians, for a second mandate. “We have never said no to a project for a second Greco – Costa also says – however, we were clear from the beginning. It had to be a unitary project. The conditions have disappeared. The centre-right parties have all said no to the possibility of Mayor Greco re-nominating. We then put forward the name of Rosario Caci but the centre-right chose something else. We have never been against Greco.” There have been attempts to set up a sort of third pole, especially in the face of a certain rigidity from the local centre-right. In the end, nothing was done about it.
