The new initiative is underway Prices down implemented by the cooperative to defend the purchasing power of families and to guarantee complete and convenient spending: from June 3rd to August 31stthe initiative of price reduction will be available in all Coop stores 2,000 products highlighted on the shelf by a red label “Price lowered”.

The basket with reduced price includes a selection of quality productsto Coop brand and branded, which cover all the primary needs of a family: basic pantry products, from breakfast onwards, for adults and children, items for personal and household hygiene, without neglecting particular nutritional needs (from vegetable milks to gluten-free), pet food items. In addition to the classic pantry categories, among the 2,000 products there are also numerous proposals from the refrigerated counter, such as yogurt, cured meats and cheeses, burgers and vegan foods, sauces and condiments, and frozen ready meals, for a complete menu, from first courses and soups, through for main courses and side dishes, up to ice cream.

«In a scenario that is still difficult for families and with growing poverty rates, the cooperative is implementing a new initiative whose main objective is to guarantee families’ primary spending. The new initiative Prices down offers, in all Coop stores, a basket of 2,000 products with reduced prices, with which consumers have the possibility of composing their daily or weekly shopping in a varied, complete way and within a contained spending profile: concrete help which, throughout the summer months, we want to get into the shopping carts of families, with this initiative and others starting soon”, fyear to know from Unicoop Florence.

Shopping in the cart

In a context that is still difficult for family budgets, Unicoop Firenze strengthens its commitment to convenience to guarantee sustainable spending for families who, in the last two years, have seen their purchasing power eroded by energy increases and inflation: in 2023 at a national level, Istat detected an increase in food prices of 9.5% while ad April 2024, compared to the same period last year, it stands at +2.3%.

The wave of price increases and the inflationary flare-up have left their mark on our pockets and shopping carts: to cope with the price increases families have reduced the quantities purchased, with a contraction in sales volumes, both food and non-food, estimated by Istat at around 3.7% in 2023. Among the saving strategies, confirmed by the cooperative’s internal findings, also a change in composition of the cart which consumers have filled with cheaper products, to contain the increase in average spending.

Sustainable spending

In a scenario of global uncertainty and an Italy in trouble, between inflation, loss of purchasing power and decline in consumption, the cooperative has maintained its commitment to defense of the expense of families with important actions in the name of convenience: after the 10% discount initiative on all spending in December 2023, from the beginning of 2024 the cooperative continued with the initiative dedicated to members “Only for you”, 10% discount on 300 branded products and with the February and May appointments with i 5 euro shopping vouchers for members and customers.
