Giro d’Italia 2024, where to see the Foligno-Perugia stage

With the seventh stage of the Giro d’Italia we enter the heart of the pink race. It’s scheduled today, Friday 10 May: it’s time for the first time trial (the first runner sets off at 1pm). It is a 40.6 kilometer route from Foligno to Perugia. The first 34 kilometers are flat. So, time trial specialists will find fertile ground for their wheels. But after the second half-time, the story changes. You find yourself facing the Casaglia climb of 1,300 meters at almost 12% with gradients of up to 16%, then the road will continue to climb for some stretches, even reaching 11%, alternating with slightly downhill stretches.

Who won the sixth stage? It was the Spaniard Pelayo Sanchez who won the sixth stage, from Torre del Lago Puccini to Rapolano Terme. The Movistar rider won the sprint over the Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe and the Australian Lucas Plapp. Fourth place for Andrea Piccolo at 24”.

«I still can’t understand what happened. Was an absolutely crazy day, I struggle to believe it, but I managed to get into the decisive breakaway and then in the final I tried to save some energy by thinking about the sprint. It was a challenging stage, if we consider that in the first two hours of racing not even one breakaway managed to break away. There was collaboration with my teammates, and then near the finish I tried to accelerate and it went well, absolutely fantastic”, he said.
