MESSINA – Cateno De Luca wastes no time. A few hours ago he was discharged from the Polyclinic, convalescent after having had acute pneumonia, and immediately communicated his objectives at Palazzo Zanca in a press conference. Leader of the list in all Italian constituencies for the European elections of 8 and 9 June, the federation of the “Freedom” project launches his objective in Messina and its province: that of “confirming the 150 thousand votes obtained in Messina and its province and the over 500 thousand votes in Sicily achieved in the 2022 regional elections. Because – remember – we live by consensus. In the city this administration must not get even one vote less than the regional ones and the list Freedom it must not get one vote less than the 2022 regional elections. The Basile administration is admirably continuing the work we have started and has the duty to safeguard a legacy of electoral credibility in the city. We have an image and a history of good governance that we must defend. Councilors and presidents get a move on.”
The leader of the South calls North resumes the electoral campaign in a camper, limiting the number of meetings. Compared to the polls, which today give the Libertà list around 3%, De Luca explains: “The polls are clues and according to what emerges we have the possibility of achieving the objective of 4%. But we must confirm what we have already built. In Sicily we are given about 10%, which means we are halfway to our potential, as we have reached 25% on my person. We don’t have to go looking for new votes, I’m asking the people of Messina and Sicily to give me the same trust. And we present ourselves to the rest of Italy with our history of good governance and good administration.”
And again: “Our electoral campaign also extends to the North. The president of Sud Gioca Nord, Laura Castelli, is actively visiting the two constituencies in the north-east and north-west. Furthermore, the list was presented just yesterday Freedom for the regional ones in Piedmont. This is the strategy that will lead us to reach an important goal: confirm our vote in the South and implement with the North. The result – concluded De Luca – is within reach, but everyone must feel an active part and take to the field without hesitation and without sparing themselves. Anyone who has become bourgeois and thinks, because he is a councilor or member of a subsidiary, that he does not have to sweat in search of consensus, should leave immediately.”
