Rho, a notice for the co-planning of the management of the Garibaldi Market

The Municipality of Rho has issued a “Public Investigation Notice” for the co-planning of the management of the Garibaldi Market. The Notice is linked to the project “RHO 2024 – RI-Building and consolidating the centralities of the district”, financed by the regional tender for the “Development of Commercial Districts 2022-2024”. A project whose objectives also include the redevelopment of the covered market called Mercatino Garibaldi in Corso Garibaldi 79 in Rho. At the moment the area is in a state of abandonment from both a structural and management point of view. The Administration’s objective is to make it once again a point of reference in terms of sociality and vitality. Equipped with a covered area, a porticoed area and an uncovered central plate, the Corso Garibaldi 79 market can play an important role in the commercial fabric and beyond. The Notice was created to select one or more Third Sector Bodies with which to develop a co-planning, ensuring compliance with the principles of transparency, impartiality, participation and equal treatment.

The primary strategic objective is to restart and enhance the Market as a new and contemporary place capable of hosting something new mix of functions with a diversified food and beverage offer and, above all, capable of providing different moments of culture and sociality throughout the year with a varied offer that can range (for example) from film clubs to book presentations, from birthday parties to cultural meetings, from temporary exhibitions to events linked to the traditions of Rho.

The municipal administration makes available the resources of the DUC tender of the Lombardy Region for 275,000 euros, which may increase with further financing obtained from further financing tenders from both public and private bodies. The funds will be used for redevelopment.

The design concerns a single structure in which to carry out convivial activities and participate in cultural initiatives, through diversified programming throughout the year, which takes into account the economic sustainability of the project. The aim is for a Food hub with excellent dishes (rotating and also temporary) and tables to share to reduce costs and risks and increase interest, on the model of the General Market created in the Central Station.
