For the first time, four swans were born at the La Francesa oasis

A small “miracle” occurred at the La Francesa Oasis in Carpi, to the amazement and wonder of the many volunteers who, day after day, take care of this corner where nature smiles. After twenty years the oasis saw the birth of four little Swans for the first time. “A pair of Swans arrived in the oasis in February and, for the first time, chose it to nest. They made three before creating the perfect one for hatching: a monumental nest to say the least and defended with great stubbornness by the male so that his mate was not disturbed. Now in the humid area it is possible to admire the four little ones.” But the Francesa in this magical moment is a real nursery: never before has the presence of Avocets, Geese and Germans with their chicks in tow been as strong as this year.

Due to the heavy rains of recent weeks, the water level in the wetland had risen dangerously, putting the many nests located on the ground at risk. For this reason, the oasis volunteers took turns, even during the night, to drain the water and thus save the broods. Now we await the hatching of the Black Stilt eggs… in short, if you want to witness the miracle of nature blossoming and renewing itself, this is the right time to pop into our beautiful oasis. A place to defend and which we hope, over time, will continue to grow and recruit more and more environmentally friendly volunteers.
