Four days of programming, 25 publishers from the Marche region, 81 participating entities including publishing houses, exhibitions and festivals, public bodies, associations, 86 events and over 200 guests. The Marche region deploys an “army” of culture at the Turin Book Fair, in the spaces of the Lingotto Fiere. The most prestigious Italian publishing event, which has had 36 editions, will see a very rich program in the stand set up by the Region, with the collaboration of the Marche Cultura Foundation.
One of the big news of the 2024 edition is the arrival, for the first time in Italy, of the TikTok Book Awards, the award that celebrates the TikTok community’s favorite books, authors and bookmakers. BookTok is the hashtag that has been very trendy for some years and which, from the USA to Europe, has changed the publishing world, revolutionizing book sales rankings. Booktokers, book influencers on Tik Tok, are the editorial phenomenon of the moment. By sharing their opinions on the titles they have read, often in the form of short videos, they promote reading, especially among young people. Thanks to them, books are experiencing a new golden moment and we are witnessing a general lowering of the average age of readers.
Consistent with this phenomenon, the Marche Cultura Foundation has promoted some meetings that will investigate the extraordinary potential of social networks as a vehicle for promoting books and creativity. The talks will be moderated by the President of FMC.
On Saturday 11 May, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, the Sala Marche will bring together industry experts and institutional guests for a round table entitled booktok : digital that invites you to read. Together with the Councilor for Culture of the Marche Region and the regional manager of the cultural heritage and activities sector, the following will speak: Giulia Sara Salemi, influencer with 5 million followers on TikTok, but also speaker, writer and actress, recently featured in the film shot on the Riviera of the Conero “The beach of the seagulls”; the Marche writer and bookblogger Giulia Ciarapica; the twelve-year-old Valeria Scatasta, cultural communicator and curator of the Fondazione Marche Cultura column “L’angolo dei libri”. And again: the Rai journalist Guido Barlozzetti, the Il Sole 24 Ore journalist Giampaolo Colletti, the journalist Stella Grillo, the psychologist Rossella Ottaviani, the president of Èdi.Marca – Associazione Editori Marchigiani, Mauro Garbuglia, the president of “The places of culture ” Domenico Minuto and Marcello Mancini, president of Roi Edizioni.
It’s not over: Sunday 12 May, from 10.45am to 12.45pm, there will be a meeting that will bring together the most followed bookmakers in Italy. Speakers will be Arianna Craviotto, Francesca Tamburini, Anastasia Parpaglioni, Martina Levato, Franci Booklover, Chiara Casadei, Magdalena Rosa, Valentina Ghetti. Eight faces and voices who have been able, each with their own style and agile and fresh communication, to reach a vast audience by talking about books. Adding together the audience that usually follows the 8 young protagonists of the talk, we are close to 4 million followers.
“Reaching the youngest, conveying positive messages, promoting various art forms are objectives that we want to achieve with enthusiasm and originality – notes the Marche Cultura Foundation – For some time we have dedicated a space to the young book influencer Valeria Scatasta and recently also the Foundation has opened its own TikTok profile. Demonizing social media is useless. Entering them, communicating with those who use them intelligently, dealing with the languages of our time is a stimulating challenge: the meetings that we will promote at the Turin Book Fair will be a great opportunity for reflection in which we want the Marche region to be the protagonists”.
