ANDRIA – Unscheduled inspection by the Province of Barletta-Andria-Trani on Provincial Road 2, near the roundabout leading to the village of Montegrosso. The need to eliminate the roundabout was confirmed to allow the company to close the construction site and carry out its testing.
Present were the president Bernardo Lodispoto and the engineer. Lorenzo Fruscio, technical manager of the provincial body, testifies to the continuous work that the Province has been putting in place in recent weeks to find a solution and give concrete answers to residents and entrepreneurs of the township.
In the meantime there have been important steps forward towards the creation of the new definitive roundabout. «We have already entrusted the design with the solutions that have been received by the technical office – said the engineer -. We evaluated them and considered, among those, the roundabout which allows it to be built directly on the provincial road, thus avoiding waste of time due to expropriations and so on. So we will soon also be able to provide, after the last meeting in the Region next week, the actual timing. We estimated the costs and solutions. We are now awaiting the timetable for the activities useful for implementation and related times.”
Definitive roundabout which can be created thanks to the reclassification of that stretch into a secondary extra-urban road. «The project involves a fast road – added the manager -. Once tested with the approval, what is actually the type of road envisaged in the executive project is imprinted, but the Province can autonomously issue deeds and ordinances to redevelop the road even with a lower project speed”.
timetable The BAT Province is working to reduce the time between the closure of the gate to Montegrosso and the construction of the new roundabout as much as possible. «The elimination will most likely take place next week – concluded Fruscio – in fact we are agreeing with the testing commission on the days in which they will come to carry out the inspection to shorten the terms in which this community will be temporarily deprived of the roundabout. We don’t want to give abstract numbers on times, but by the end of the week we will have a clear and definitive picture of the situation. In this way, next week also in the Region we will be able to give very certain times.”
It’s still difficult to give a time frame. On the Via Vecchia Minervino front, the Province has undertaken to fix it while waiting for the new direct access to Montegrosso. Among the news that has arrived in recent days, there is also a significant one regarding the regional financing of around 11 million which should allow us to complete the modernization project of that stretch of the Sp2 with access to the hamlet and coplanar roads. The Region, during the last meeting, confirmed its willingness to finance the definitive project already drawn up since 2021 by the company that oversaw the modernization works.
