Rimini, small temple of Sant’Antonio, restoration work has begun

With the construction of the construction site, the restoration work on the small temple of Sant’Antonio da Padova in Piazza Tre Martiri has officially started, one of the identifying symbols of Rimini.

Dating back to the first half of the 16th century and subject to various maintenance, renovation and restoration interventions over the years, the temple will be the subject of works that will affect both the external and internal parts, in addition to the plant parts.

The exterior will be restored thanks to a consolidation and overall cleaning of the Istrian stone and the San Marino stone; the roof will also be overhauled and restored, as will the fixtures, friezes and metal parts. Internally, work will be carried out on the stone parts and the plastered vault, the internal frescoes, the wooden sculpture and the adaptation of the systems. The restoration project was developed following accurate stratigraphic and diagnostic investigations with a thermal imager, as well as 3D surveys with a laser scanner.

The works, entrusted to the ETRA company specialized in the restoration of historic and protected assets, will last six months and will be carried out following a detailed timetable under the direction of the Municipality’s technicians and with the supervision of the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape, which approved the intervention.

The work will be completed thanks to the support of the Rimini entrepreneur Bonfiglio Mariottiwhich will finance the intervention through the Art Bonus contribution for a total investment of 200 thousand euros.

“The Tempietto di Sant’Antonio is a place dear to me, just as it is dear to many Rimini residents who, like me, have memories and ties with what is a symbol of the history and culture of the city – underlines the entrepreneur Bonfiglio Mariotti, president and owner together with his family of the IT company Bluenext, present throughout Italy and with its headquarters in Rimini – Hence the choice to give our contribution to returning a monumental jewel to the community and demonstrating how entrepreneurship can support the growth and cultural development of the territory”.
