THE EAGLE – Saturday 11 May 2024at Palazzetto dei Nobili (L’Aquila)at 3.30pm – 8.00pm, the Quarto di San Pietro Association presents “FOR THE PROCESSION OF THE BUBBLE. Historical tailoring workshop”.
An event that was created with the aim of providing re-enactors, costume designers, passionate figures and all those interested, with the specific tools to create medieval clothes for the historical procession of Celestine’s Pardon, in their entirety: from historical research to planning, up to to tailoring.
Beatrice Sabatini, Annamaria Continenza and Sandro Zecca will guide the participants on a compelling iconographic and documentary journey for the creation of clothes and accessories philologically coherent with the reference temporal context. From historical clothes to footwear, bags, jewellery, armor with coats of arms, up to hints on the hairstyles of medieval ladies.
The historical procession of the Bull, the heart of Celestine’s Forgiveness, a UNESCO intangible heritage site since 2019, has faithfully reminded the world of the message of peace and mercy of Pope Celestine V for 730 years: this is why it is important to be faithful to the historical reconstruction than what is part of it.
