“Stop genocide”. The alleged perpetrator has already been identified

PADUA – The wall of Caffè Pedrocchi in Padua was defaced. This morning, May 9, the director of Pedrocchi Manolo Rigoni found two “stop genocide” writings on the wall of the east facade of the “Caffè senza porte”. Collective indignation at the defacement of the historic symbol of Padua, the spray paint may in fact have damaged the plaster of architect Japelli’s work. By tomorrow the wall will be clean, given that two years ago in the last restoration a special washable paint was used, given that there had been other similar episodes. Director Rigoni promptly made a report to the police station and the police acquired the videos. At 4.30 in the morning the Municipality’s cameras filmed a boy who alone made the two graffiti with a spray can. The same would be the author of two other identical writings, found on the panels of the construction site of the Torre degli Anziani, on the corner between Piazza dei Frutti and via Oberdan, and on the work of the street artist Kenny Random in piazza dei Signori. Investigations have already begun to identify the perpetrator of the gesture.

Culture Councilor Colasio if you want to add: Whoever did it probably doesn’t know that it is a criminal offence. I’m sure he’ll regret it soon. An idiotic act, because there are a thousand ways to pursue a cause, but damaging the city is among the stupidest”, said Colasio, “The damage is a few thousand euros, but we are talking about a tied asset and that’s not enough a coat of white to resolve. Two years ago we spent a million euros on the facade.”
