The widespread presence of Carabinieri patrols operating in the area, further strengthened according to the indications of the control plan of the Provincial Command of Catania, has once again allowed the soldiers of the Radiomobile Unit to arrest, in flagrante delicto, a 38 year old criminal from Catania for “evasion” and “prevention”.
In particular, around 08.30, the Operations Center of the capital, following a woman’s request for help, sent a patrol near Piazza Risorgimento, where they found a 58-year-old from Misterbianco. The woman, after having reported to the local Tenenza the theft of the Ford Fiesta which occurred during the night in the garage of her house located in the central Via Garibaldi, while passing through that square, had seen her car pass quickly.
The soldiers of the Carabinieri, having acquired all the information from the woman, reassured by the presence of the operators, boarded the Gazzella, began the search for the stolen vehicle by patrolling the entire area.
This operation proved to be extremely effective because, within an hour, it bore fruit. And in fact the crew, while driving around the Nesima area, saw a man on board a Ford Fiesta who was about to turn from via Palermo towards via G. Manzella Fontini.
The Carabinieri, therefore, immediately blocked the way to the driver who, after getting out of the car, was stopped and recognized as a 38-year-old already known to the military because he was already responsible for crimes against property and against the person and in particular robbery and resistance to public official for whom, instead, he should have been at “home” under house arrest.
Having secured the man, the search of the car then began, on board of which the soldiers also recovered a mountain bike, which after investigations was found to have also been stolen from another garage, still in the via Garibaldi di Misterbianco to the unsuspecting owner, a 21-year-old from Misterbianche.
Both the car and the bicycle, loaded in the trunk, were returned to their legitimate owners, who thanked the patrol for their timely intervention.
For the escape and receiving stolen goods, the 38-year-old was arrested and made available to the Judicial Authority which validated his arrest, placing a precautionary measure against him in prison following which he was associated with Piazza Lanza.
