VITERBO – In respect of the rights of the persons under investigation and the presumption of innocence, as far as is currently known, subject to further investigation and pending judgement, the following is communicated.
During the evening of last May 6th, staff of the State Police of the Flying Squad of the General Prevention and Public Aid Office of the Viterbo Police Headquarters arrested a 37-year-old citizen from Viterbo for detention for the purpose of dealing narcotic substances, pursuant to article 73 of the Presidential Decree no. 309/1990. Specifically, during the control of a subject restricted under house arrest, the operators heard noises from the attic of the house and worked to verify their origin.
Once inside the room, they surprised the suspect next to material suitable for taking narcotic substances. The police then decided to proceed with a personal search of the subject which gave a positive result, as two wrappers wrapped in cellophane containing 10 grams of cocaine were found in his trouser pocket, as well as 665 euros in cash of which he was unable to justify its origin.
The activity was also extended to the home of the Viterbo resident, also with a positive outcome since it allowed the discovery of a precision electronic scale and further cash for a sum of over 10,000 euros. The suspect was referred to the judicial authority which proceeded to validate the arrest and the possible adoption of preventive measures by the Viterbo Police Commissioner is currently being assessed against him.
