“Top” stays in the Novara area: two hotels awarded with the keys of the Michelin Guide

Among the best hotels in Italy awarded in the 2024 Michelin Guide there are also two hotels in the Province of Novara.

The best hotels in Italy: what the Michelin Guide says

Among the 146 hotels reviewed by the experts of the famous guide, there are also two hotels in the Novara area. All the chosen structures were divided into three categories by assigning One, Two and Three Keys. A bit like the very famous restaurant stars.

Three keys: 8 hotels
Two keys: 31 hotels
One key: 107 hotels

There are five criteria used to analyze the structures:

  • excellence in architecture and interior design;
  • individuality, personality and authenticity;
  • quality and solidity of service, comfort and maintenance;
  • relevance of the structure within the locality in which it is located;
  • consistency between the price and the experience offered.

Michelin Guide 2024: two award-winning hotels in the Novara area

If the province of Novara lacks in terms of presence in the top of the range, appearing absent both among the hotels with three and two keys, it instead appears among the structures considered worthy of a key.

The “Una Chiave” hotels, says the Guide, offer “a special stay. A true jewel in terms of character and personality. It can break the mould, offer something different or simply be one of the best of its kind. The service is always top notch. height and offers much more than similarly priced properties.”

Villa Crespi

And it is Villa Crespi in Orta San Giulio (which already boasts 3 stars for the restaurant in Cannavacciuolo) reviewed as follows:

We are not in Istanbul, but on Lake Orta, an hour’s drive from Milan. Here is one of the most extraordinary and particular hotels in Italy. Its architecture is out of every scheme and leaves you speechless. Its origins date back to 1879, when Cristoforo Benigno Crespi decided to transport the charm of Baghdad to his beloved Lake Orta. In its Moorish architecture you will feel like you are in a fairy tale, while outside you will find a natural environment ideal for forgetting everyday life.
The hotel’s eight suites and six rooms are a joy to behold. They are all personalized and manage to mix ancient elements with all modern comforts. The icing on the cake is chef Cannavacciuolo’s three-starred restaurant, one more reason to choose this enchanting destination.

Lake by the lake

A “key” also for “Laqua by the lake in Pettenasco”, also characterized by the hotel-restaurant combination directed by Cannavacciuolo, reviewed as follows in the guide:

Although less famous than Lake Maggiore and Lake Como, Lake Orta is certainly no less spectacular; and not having to deal with sumptuous grand hotels with a long tradition, a place like the Laqua by the Lake is free to express its openly modernist vocation. Much more than simple rooms, the 18 units are halfway between suites and apartments; those with a lake view are worth the extra price. The small spa with CryoSuite is complemented by an infinity pool and beach club; the restaurant and bar offer modern Piedmontese cuisine under the direction of the award-winning chef Antonino Cannavacciuolo.
