The final balance of two weeks dedicated to international poker at the Sanremo Casino exceeded the most optimistic expectations.
There were 3,826 entries, or unique players, registered for the Sanremo IPO, Italian Poker Tour, for a prize pool for the main event alone of 1.8 million euros, the richest result ever achieved by a 550 euro poker tournament of ‘ buy in’ in Sanremo, which almost doubled the million guaranteed at the start.
From 27 April to 9 May, the total registrations for all poker tournaments, including the IPO, were 6,786, with a daily average of 655. As many as 4,405 players crowded the playing green, of which 3,826 registered for the ‘Main Event’. ‘Italian Poker Open, which ended with the final prize pool of 1.8 million euros. A success, which ensured a first coin of 250,000 euros and a total prize pool of 800,000 for the final table reserved for 8 players. The victory palm with the coveted trophy and the first coin were won after a ‘Final Table’ that lasted over 5 hours.
“It was a good poker page – states the President of the Sanremo Casino, Gian Carlo Ghinamo – which set new participation records. The continuous flow of poker players has poured into the city and its accommodation facilities with more than 10 thousand presences considering the numerous companions. The Poker Room of the Casino recorded important numbers, exceeding the objectives of previous editions, a success that rewards the entertainment proposals of the Sanremo Casino, created in collaboration with TexApoker”.
The next events are already upon us: the WPT Prime Sanremo will take place from 31 May to 10 June. The program includes the €1,100 WPT Prime Main Event from 6 to 10 June, as well as a series of side tournaments starting from 31 May. In addition to the final prize money, the big winner will also win a seat for the 2024 WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas.
