FERMO – The 320 athletes who took part in the Ripartiamo 1.2 Trophy at the Fermo municipal swimming pool on Sunday 5 May 2024 arrived from Marche, Tuscany and Umbria, organized by Fermo Nuoto and Water Polo with the collaboration of Virtus Buonconvento, reserved for the rookie category male and female (7-10 years), with the patronage of the Municipality of Fermo.
A national event, with a rich program: the competitions took place in two sessions, in the morning and in the afternoon. All swimming specialties in the pool, from backstroke to breaststroke to freestyle and mixed.
“Thanks to the entire organization for the work and commitment they put into setting up and organizing such an important event, which returns to our city, demonstrating how the municipal swimming pool is an important facility at a regional and national level , not only for major competitive events, but also for daily sporting activity” – said Mayor Paolo Calcinaro.
“The municipal swimming pool is a clear example of the deseasonalisation of attendance in the city, thanks to sport with another very popular event, with athletes from all over Italy, in a swimming facility which, thanks to our sports club, in collaboration with the Municipal Administration, in recent years it has become a point of reference for swimming in our area and an attraction for important national events” – declared the sports councilor Alberto Scarfini.
“A swimming event that has returned to Fermo again and which has taken on great importance in the national panorama, receiving great appreciation, as is demonstrated in particular every year by the number of members” – said Marco Cicconi, President of Fermo Nuoto and Water Polo, representative of the Virtus Buonconvento at the municipal swimming pool of Fermo, regional teacher, coach of national athletes, fourth level European coach.
Fermo swimming which has also been talked about abroad: Fermo swimming and water polo, with its athlete Vincenzo Bonsanto, had the honor of participating in recent days in a meeting in Argentina in the city of Bahia Blanca, which since 1990 it is twinned with the city of Fermo and to which Mayor Calcinaro had recently visited, visiting the various social, cultural, sporting and productive realities of the country. Bonsanto, born in 2008, accompanied by the President of the company Marco Cicconi, competed in the 50, 100 and 200 breaststroke and in the 50, 100 and 200 dolphin. The Argentine champion Macarena Caballos also took part in the event in the swimming pool of the Olimpo Club Natatorio in Bahia Blanca, having qualified in the 100m breaststroke for the next Paris Olympics. The participation of the athlete from Fermo who then trained with the Argentine team was warmly welcomed.
