CREMONA – The electoral campaign of the centre-right mayoral candidate continues Alessandro Portesani between meetings with citizens and endorsements from leading exponents of the coalition. Eyes focused on safety in neighborhoods and urban decorum, including roads and separate waste collection.

She arrived in the city to support Portesani’s candidacy for mayor Vannia Gava, deputy minister of the environment and energy security. «With the deputy minister – we read in a note released by Portesani himself – we have explored the issues of separate waste collection which in Cremona has chosen to be managed ‘door to door’ through the punctual tariff system. Focus also on cycle paths, which should be managed with innovative methods that are more in line with the urban planning of our city to encourage so-called soft mobility. I thank the deputy minister for the support given to the change project proposed by the centre-right coalition.”

«We support – the minister told Portesani – good waste management and circular economy practices. In this regard, I would like to remind you that in the Pnrr we have allocated considerable funds for the entire plant engineering part and technological innovations. The ‘door to door’ approach is good, but cannot ignore the citizen’s awareness.” And on cycle paths – under the responsibility of MIT – she said she was “absolutely in favor of routes that guarantee, at the same time, environmental protection and citizen safety”.

And during a meeting with the inhabitants of the Risorgimento-Sant’Ambrogio Portesani district he does not spare any jabs, in particular on the age-old theme of the tower of the castle of Santa Croce. First comes the complaint: «The terrible conditions of the large tower are the symbol of how the Galimberti-Virgilio council took the neighborhoods into consideration». Then the promise: «We, as the centre-right, will commit ourselves to giving this great monument back to the people of Cremona by starting a dialogue with the superintendency to evaluate the most useful and appropriate methods». Portesani then mentions the issue of night safety, guaranteeing a further increase in local police presence and public lighting to deal with the issue of urban decorum.
