The A2A Group has acquired 70% of Parco Solare Friulano 2, a company of EnValue Italia and MSE Solar Energy Italia which has obtained the permit for the construction and operation of a photovoltaic system in the municipalities of Santa Maria la Longa and Pavia di Udine (UD), with an authorized capacity of 112.1 MWp.

“This project, the most important in the photovoltaic sector in Northern Italy, will make additional green energy available to the territory and its production fabric, helping to promote the decarbonisation path of an area characterized by great industrial dynamism”, comments Renato Mazzoncini, CEO of A2A. “The operation will allow us to accelerate the achievement of the installed capacity targets from renewable sources envisaged by our Industrial Plan – 5.7 GW by 2035.

Furthermore, the location of the plant will allow for more favorable energy valorisation with values above the national average”. With over 150 MWp installed in total, this plant together with the one authorized in 2022 in the same municipalities for a capacity of 59.1 MWp will represent the main photovoltaic hub in the North of the country. In fact, over 210 GWh will be produced per year, which will make it possible to satisfy the electricity needs of over 75,000 families, reduce natural gas consumption by around 40 million cubic meters and avoid the emission of around 90,000 tonnes of CO2. The operation confirms the Group among the main players at national level in the development of strategic infrastructures for the country’s energy transition.
