The men’s Serie A and A1 Senior canoe polo championships kicked off in Bacoli, in the province of Naples. The Circolo Canoa Catania was busy in Campania with its two teams, the Polisportiva Canottieri Catania coached by Salvo Messina and the Jomar Club Catania directed by Salvo Cannavò. Polisportiva Canottieri finished in sixth position. The Etna team were beaten in their debut match by Canottieri Ichnusa 9-7, but they made up for it by winning the derby against Jomar Club Catania (10-2). Paolo Messina and his associates were mocked, however, by the Idroscalo Club, who won 5-4. Important statement for the rossozzurri on the Circolo Nautico Posillipo with the score of 4-3 thanks to goals from Simone Guttà and Adrian Hermida Gomez, the latter author of a hat-trick.
Difficult start for Jomar Club. The Catania polo players surrendered to their rivals from Posillipo (6-3), Canottieri Ichnusa (6-1), Marina San Nicola Palermo (6-4) and Chiavari Canoa Polo Academy by 5-2.
