The Novara-Fossano stage begins but… without Rai commentary

The third stage of the race began late in the morning Giro d’Italia 2024departing from Novara and arriving in Fossano.

The city of Acaja has already been tinged with pink since the early morning, despite a few drops of rain, awaiting the great arrival of the Corsa Rosa.

In the meantime, however, there is already news: the stage of the Giro is broadcast on Rai, but without technical commentary. Yes, because Usig Rai announced it today general strike of all journalists and, in particular, sports journalists.

These are the reasons:

“From 5.30am on Monday 6th to 5.30am on Tuesday 7th the RAI journalists will strike for 24 hours. In a statement released in recent days, Usigrai listed the reasons for the protest: «The suffocating control over journalistic work, with the attempt to reduce Rai to a megaphone for the government, the absence of a Rai information project from the industrial plan, the staff shortages in all the editorial offices, the company’s no to a public selection for journalists, the failure to replace maternity leave, the cancellation of the agreement on the performance bonus, without a real willingness to negotiate, the failure to stabilize temporary colleagues”.

The images of Fossano, therefore, like all the others of the 166km of the Piedmontese hamlet, are broadcast by national television without any audio, other than the ambient one. And the Giro Mattina broadcast, which introduces the day’s stage and presents the cities of departure and arrival, has been skipped.

For those wishing to follow the race with commentary, therefore, the only possibility is to connect to Eurosport (the Eurosport 1 and Eurosport 2 channels are available in Sky’s Sky TV package on channels 210 and 211).
