Filippo Giardina in Lecce with the show “Cabaret”

LECCE – Tuesday 7 May (9.00 pm | Entrance 26.45 euros | Ticketone.it advance sales) the Officine Cantelmo of Lecce, in collaboration with CoolClub, host Cabaret, the eleventh satirical monologue by Filippo Giardina. Among the most loved (and hated) Italian stand-up comedians, he is the advocate of free and authentic satire, which has its roots in the literary tradition and lashes out against hypocrisy and rhetoric.

Giardina talks about the contradictions of society with sarcasm and sagacity which are two qualities that distinguish his shows. After the incredible success of “Dieci” with which he collected one sold-out after another in clubs and theaters throughout the country, the Roman comedian and author brings “Cabaret” around not only in Italy but also in Europe .

The show can be summed up in one word: counterculture. This term refers to those cultural, philosophical, political and religious movements that oppose the dominant culture of society. Cabaret unmasks a human being increasingly alone in his own egoic delirium, stuck in a random technology that paints a distressing and depersonalized future. Cabaret is a paradoxical journey between past, present and future peppered with gratuitous malice and lexical injustices. Cabaret is a disenchanted stand-up comedy monologue that aims to distance itself from banal and improvised comedy and claims belonging to the historical tradition of oral literature. “Indignation has gone from being an instrument of struggle and protest to a means of closing oneself in one’s own bubble of unshakable beliefs and certainties”, he says. “Respectability and bigotry are becoming positive values and freedom of expression must fearfully submit to a rampant and infantile touchiness. In the meantime there is war and the left is floundering between old boiled categories and new bourgeois fixations. More the world sinks, only laughter can alleviate the pain of the slow, but inevitable sinking.”

Filippo Giardina is a comedian and satirist. Since 2001 he has been touring his stand-up comedy shows in the major Italian theatres. Feeling the need for adult, cynical and irreverent satire, in 2009 he called together a collective of comedy professionals to create stand up comedy shows and in 2009 he founded Satiriasi in Rome. For TV he participated and was the author of “Stand Up Comedy” on Comedy Central IT, “Sbandati” on Rai2 and “Nemico Pubblico” on Rai3. Recently his monologue “Mosche Depresse” appeared as a skit in the new album of rapper Dani Faiv (Sony – Machete crew). In 2021 he created the podcast “Sixth Power: investigation into social networks”. His previous stand-up comedy specials uploaded to his YouTube channel have racked up over 2 million views. In 2023 he debuts with his eleventh satirical monologue “Cabaret”, and announces a new tour to take it to stages throughout Italy.
