No sentence reduction for Carmine Natale, 67 year old from Casal di Principe, affiliated to the Casalesi clan of the Schiavone faction.

The seventh section of the Court of Cassation, chaired by Stefano Aprile, ruled on the appeal presented by Natale against the order of the Court of Appeal of Naples which rejected the request made by the Casalesi affiliate, aimed at recognizing the constraint of continuation between more crimes.

Natale, was considered the link between the Casalesi clan and the other criminal cliques present in the province of Caserta such as that of ‘Farina-D’Albenzio’ belonging to the Belforte clan in Maddaloni.

The 67-year-old from Casale was involved in extortion on behalf of the clans against the ‘Alvi’ chain supermarkets located in the Caserta area, asking for protection money in conjunction with holidays such as Easter, Christmas and Ferragosto.

For the Neapolitan judges, the crimes whose continuation was assumed “are not homogeneous on an executive level and cannot be traced back to criminal preordination”; in practice they appeared “too discontinuous based on their temporal distance and uneven in the violations perpetrated”. An assumption on which the judges of the Supreme Court agreed, so much so that they declared the appeal inadmissible.
