Sicily | Elections. At the dinner in Taormina, almost a million was raised to finance the Libertà list » Webmarte.tv

The leader of the South calls the North and federator of the Libertà list is still in hospital due to the pneumonia that struck him, but his creation does not stop.

The sponsors’ dinner, which took place yesterday at the Diodoro hotel in Taormina, brought in almost a million euros to finance the electoral campaign of the Libertà list.

De Luca’s appeal was collected by 350 supporters who will finance yet another electoral undertaking of the mayor of Taormina.

At the European elections on 8 and 9 June, as is known, South calls North will appear on a list that brings together 17 symbols, from farmers to the people of the North and to the family, from pensioners to street vendors, up to Italexit movement.

With the leader absent, it fell to the president of the movement, Laura Castelli, to do the honors together with the president of Sicily Vera Giuseppe Lombardo and the regional coordinator Danilo Lo Giudice.

Instead, it fell to his wife Giusy to make her presence felt emotionally.

In fact, Cateno entrusted her with a letter, which she read amid general emotion, despite the knowledge that she will soon be back on the pitch to support her project.

“This event represents a further moment in our way of being: no boss, no lobby but widespread shareholder ownership in compliance with the rules governing party financing.

Those who engage in politics for money will never be able to pursue the common good, they will never have that necessary impartiality that allows you to distinguish good from evil, they will not have the gift of considering ‘the armchair’ as an instrument and not as an end and they will never try the joy of passing the institutional baton to others without the resentment of possession that characterizes the man of power.

Generosity in politics is a rare commodity and to all those who have chosen to be in Taormina I say thank you.

If I had not been generous since I embarked on my political journey, many Mayors and Deputies would not have been such.

If I had not sacrificed a good part of my life to work and finance my passion for politics and for the common good, De Luca continued, many communities would not have discovered the meaning of good politics and good administration.

But then why are you in Taormina and I’m in a hospital bed?

The answer is banal but not obvious: because I fought for your Freedom after having conquered mine without being overwhelmed by selfishness and the splendor of power and the comforts of money. Human ingratitude is greater than God’s mercy!

No one is offended and no one is offended but it is time to examine one’s conscience as a sober and significant act of love towards me.”

Today’s program is intense, and includes a series of events in Fiumedinisi, the birthplace of Cateno De Luca.

There were several events scheduled today.

“The Village of Freedom”, “The counter-expedition of the Thousand” and the enlistment and oath of the sentinels of Freedom, with the historical re-enactment of the expedition of the Thousand and the greetings of the candidates from all over Italy on the Freedom list.

The parade through the streets of Fiumedinisi of the Thousand Sentinels of Freedom procession, “Face to face with Captain Ultimo”, ending with a video documentary on the life of the leader of South calls North.
