L’AQUILA – “But if the Cantieri dell’Immaginario begins on 8 July, what is the point of arranging the assembly of the stage starting from 24 April, two and a half months earlier, to leave it unused (at least) for the entire month of June? And, above all, given that the assignment arranged by the Municipality provides for the service to begin on July 1st, who will pay the approximately 4,000 extra euros per day for the rental of the stage for the month of June?”.
The lawyer from L’Aquila is asking himself this Fausto Cortiin relation to the stage which will also be built throughout this summer above the steps of San Bernardino in L’Aquila, to host the Cantieri dell’Imaginary, starting on 8 July, with the lyrical Gala directed by Daniel Orenand already with the controversies unleashed within the centre-right majority by Forza Italia, because the assembly already underway will determine the parking ban with forced removal in Largo Pischedda and Piazza San Bernardino until May 31st, in a situation already of dramatic shortage of parking spaces in the historic center of L’Aquila.
As stated in the managerial determination of 2.247 of 30 May 2023, the service, for the three-year period 2023-2025, of technical design, rental of the stage, stands, and all the equipment needed for the set-up on the steps in front of the San Bernardino basilica , for the events scheduled from 1 July to 17 September, were entrusted with an open procedure and with a reduction of 3.6%, to the company Massimo stage, with registered office in Naples, for 947,751 euros. A sum that reaches 1.1 million euros, counting VAT, and other charges to be paid by the municipal coffers.
Continuing to do the math of the servant, and defining himself, to prevent criticism, as “a gnat by nature”, Fausto Corti then comments: “according to the only final balance available, in 2022 the Cantieri dell’Immaginario cost around 411 thousand of which 229 thousand for shows. To this sum are added the costs of the stage and the audio and lighting service which in 2023 are equal to 473,875 euros and 103 thousand euros respectively, for a total cost of approximately one million euros. If this is the budget, what is the point of organizing an event that has the declared aim of ‘promotion and valorisation of the cultural heritage of L’Aquila’, if a fifth of the total resources are allocated to artistic activities and less than half of those for the rental of the stage?”.
