Cosenza capital of opera, the “Rendano arena opera festival” is born • Wonders of Calabria

Cosenza aims to become the capital of opera and is preparing to welcome the first edition of “Rendano Arena Opera Festival”.
From 12 to 18 July the city of Bruzi will host a rich program of events that will enliven the spaces of the “Rendano Arena”, in Piazza XV Marzo, thanks to the collaboration with the municipal administration of Cosenza. This summer’s exclusive review is created by L’Altro Teatro, by Gianluigi Fabiano and Giuseppe Citrigno, and avails itself of the collaboration of the artistic director Luigi Travaglio, former artistic consultant and coordinator of important opera seasons in Italy. It is among the cultural promotion events of the Calabria Region.

«After the debut and success last year with the most performed opera in the world, Giuseppe Verdi’s Traviata, the great opera will resonate in Piazza del Rendano. This year – say Gianluigi Fabiano and Giuseppe Citrigno – we thought we would pay homage to another great artist, one hundred years after his death. The public will have the opportunity to appreciate a new opera sung under the stars. It will be a week full of events and will involve the entire city in a tour of opera, art and taste.”

While waiting to know all the events that will take place from 12 to 18 July, the “Rendano Arena Opera Festival” will make use of the participation of the Brutia Symphony Orchestra, a now consolidated reality, which has become the flagship of Calabria, to date it has signed as many as 25 productions and held over 70 concerts in all the Calabrian provinces and outside the region. There will also be space for concerts, masterclasses, gala events, traveling initiatives that will bring great artists closer to young talents.
